GOOD PROGRESS BEING MADE. . ARRANGEMENTS AT OKATO. .Very good, progress is .being, made l>y Taranaki ' children who are being taught to swim under the “Learn *to Sw’im” campaign which commenced on Monday. Large numbers of children took their second lesson yesterday and in many cases the pupils were able tc' 1 swim a few strokes at the end of th< instruction period. Yesterday children -were taught at.the New Plymouth municipal baths,, at Fitzroy in the tVaiwakaihp pooL ’ at Vogeltown, at Oakura, and at Okitp. The Okatp Swimming Club has inade complete ' arrangements for tuition in swimming. Special gear with five belts has been rigged over the I 'swimming baths and by this means school child-; ren and adults are being taught to swim. Offers have been made by the club to teach the children of the Tataraimaka and Puniho schools, and already considerable progress has been made with instruction ..to the Okato school children.
