The offerings at tho wool sales comprised 10,022 bales of which 9670 -were sold, also 716 privately. Tho average price of the wool auctioned last week wa.s 9.1 d per lb. The National Mortgage Agency of New Zealand, after contributions of £4425 to the staff funds, shows a profit of £36,462, including £15,177 brought forward. The final dividend is 7J per cent, tax free. The amount brought forward was £13,813. FIRM MARKET AT BRADFORD. DISTINCT HARDENING TENDENCY. London, Feb. 16. Quotations nominally unchanged and no first-hand, sales reported. HIDES, SKINS AND WOOL. SALE AT NEW PLYMOUTH. Messrs. L. A. Nolan and Co. report: Our usual four-weekly sale of hides, skins and wool was held at our Gill Street store vesterday. The usual catalogue of hides, sheepskins and tallow was submitted to a full bench of buyers. The wool market showing an improved tone, we submitted all wool on hand, some meeting good competition at full market rates. Salted skins ■were neglected, with drys also showing a drop. Hides were keenly competed for at prices similar to last month’s rates, heavies easing slightly. We must again emphasise the necessity of paying careful attention to proper curing of consignments, as under existing market conditions there is no demand for inferior conditioned lines. We quote: — Hides—Ox: Heavy 4 5-Bd, 43d; medium, 41d, 4 7-8 d; light, 4 3-Bd, 4Jd; cut, 3 7~-Bd. Cows: Heavy, 4 3-8 d; medium, 3 7-8 d to 4 3-8 d; light, 4d to cut, 3 3-8 d to 3 5-8 d; slippy, 1 3-8 d to 23d. MONTHLY SALE AT STRATFORD WOOL, SHEEPSKINS AND HIDES The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford, reports:—The monthly sale of wool, sheepskins, hides, tallbw, etc., was held yesterday, when the catalogue comprised equal to 10 bales of wool, 1220 sheepskins, 343 hides, 34 tins of tallow and a quantity of horse and cow hair. The range of prices is as follows; — Wool.—Crossbred fleece, unskirted and unclassed, from 3Jd to 3|d per’ lb; Southdown, 4|d per lb. Hair. —Horsehair, black mane, 5d per lb; black tail, B|d per lb; coloured and mixed, per lb. Cowtail hair, 3|d per lb. Sheepskins.—Dry: Crossbred ' pelts, sound, 4d each; torn and damaged, Id each; woolly pelts, sound, 6d each; woolly pelts, biddi, sound, 5d each; lambs, sound, 4d to lid each; lambs, torn and damaged, 3d each; hoggets, sound, Is lid each; three-quarter woolled, torn and damaged, Is 6d each; full-woolled, sound, 3s each; double fleece, lid each.
