(From Our Own Correspondent.) There was an excellent attendance at the Koru Hall on Friday evening last, when the members of the Girls’ Club held their euchre and dance evening in aid of earthquake relief funds. The early hours were devoted to a euchre tournament, some 14 tables being in play. The ladies’ prize, donated by Mr. Stanton, was won by Mrs. G. Green,. while, the men’s trophy, given by Mr, Raill, was carried off by Mr. Reg. Sharpe. Supper, prepared by the committee, was then served, and the floor cleared for dancing. Music was provided by Mrs. 0, Morris, Miss J. Yeates and Mr. T. Meredith, while the ladies of the j committee performed in turn the duties of the master of ceremonies. To the committee, consisting of the Misses K. Looney, J. MacGregor, D. Meredith, C. Green, p. Yeates, R. Green and J. Yeates, is due the credit for the success of the evening. The trials’ of harvesting days being safely weathered for another year, local residents planned a picnic in the Koru pa grounds. They were fortunate in having bright sunshine throughout the day, and an enjoyable time was spent by parties wandering through the historic pa, swimming in. the river and basking in the sunshine. Hill-climbing tests for motor-cycles were conducted on Mr. C. Morris’ property during the week-end. Church service was held in the hall by the Rev. Adams on Sunday last. Mr. R. Gruebner, Taumarunui, is visiting Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Keys.
