BUILDING IN NEW PLYMOUTH
A SLIGHT INCREASE SHOWN. The building statistica in New Plymouth for the month of April show that no permits were issued for building or altering business premises, as compared with one permit issued in April last year. Activities have been confined to dwellings. The number of new residences erected is one below that of the corresponding month last year, but alterations show an increase of five.
The principal permits during the month have been for alterations and additions to Dr. Walker’s house, Brougham Street, and a' dwelling for Dr. Brown in Devon Street. In April, 1929, the only permit for a large building was for the additions to the municipal buildings, Liardet Street. Details are:—
