A FAREWELL GATHERING. - It was a very happy gathering of some 30 to 40 friends and well-wishers that met at the Parish Hall on Friday evening to farewell Mies Hath. Behl, who is shortly to be married. Dancing to music supplied by Mrs. Evans and indoor novelty games passed the evening pleasantly, and supper was provided by a committee comprising Mesdamzs I. Evans, J. O’Donoghue, J. Guy and C. H. Brewer, Mieses Myrtle Evans and B. Hickland. Mrs. Bremer, on behalf of the gathering, presented to Miss Behl a number of gifts, expressing the regret of all at her leaving the district where she had resided all her life. She had assisted in many ways at different functions. Her friends hoped that their small gifts would always remind her of pleasant times at Kaponga, and they wished her every happiness and prosperity. Miss Hickland, on behalf of the Catholic Church choir, also spoke. Miss Behl, she said, had been a valued and useful member and her fellow’ members felt that they could not let her depart without giving her some token of their regard. They asked her to accept a bronze-mbunted cake dish, with their best wishes for a very happy and prosperous future in her new surroundings. “For They Are Jolly Good Fellows” was sung, and Mr. W. Payne, on behalf of Miss Behl, thanked the gathering. GENERAL.
