IMPROVED MAIL SERVICE

TARANAKI TO AUCKLAND. For some time the postal authorities have been endeavouring to establish a more efficient mail service from Taranaki to Auckland. The absence of a train service after 3 p.m. between Wanganui and Marton Junction was the chief factor in confining the service to one mail daily, which was sent by the express from New Plymouth to connect with the Main Trunk express for Auckland at Marton Junction. Arrangements have now been made to despatch a further mail by the train leaving New Plymouth for Wanganui at 2 p.m. daily. This mail will be carried from Wanganui to Marton Junction by' service car and thus connect with the night Limited train for Auckland, arriving in Auckland at 9.30 a.m. the follow i ; day. This mail will close in New Plymouth at 12.45 p.m. daily, and should prove of great benefit to the business community. The first despatch will be made early in the New Year- . .*. .
