BOY RUN DOWN BY LORRY
CAR CAPSIZES IN SWERVING.

Auckland, Last Night. As a result of being accidentally run down by a motor-truck in Point Chevalier Roayl this afternoon, Colin Laing, aged 10, received a grave injury believed to be a fracture of the skull. The patient was reported to be in a serious condition to-night. The boy had been playing football and in company with other boys was proceedings home about 4.10 p.m. On reaching the main road he gave chase, to the ball, which had rolled through the fence into te street. He was instantly knocked down by a motor-lorry. The vehicle swerved violently across the road in a vain effort to avoid the boy and, striking a rough portion of the road between two strips of concrete, turned over on its side. The driver escaped injury, Colin was dragged several yards by the vehicle before it capsized, and was rendered unconscious. He was conveyed to hospital in a postal van which hap- ; pened to be passing.
