FARM LAND NOT EXCLUDED
COMMISSION FINDS FOR BOROUGH.
PETITION OF 11. MARFELL FAILS.
The petition of Henry Marfcll to have 25 acres on the Bayly Road, excluded from the New Plymouth borough and placed in the Taranaki county has been dismissed by the commission that eat to hear the ap»plication on June 21. The decision, which has been confirmed by the Minister of Internal Affairs, recommends that Marfell should pay twotbirds of the costs of the proceedings and the Borough Council one-third.
The finding is as follows: — That the area of land, referred to in the petition ... 13 suitable for municipal control and should not be excluded from the borough of New Plymouth. The alteration of the boundaries of the area or boundaries of the borough of New Plymouth is neither necessary nor advisable. That inclusion in the county of Taranaki would not, in our opinion, afford the petitioner any relief from rates, and thia seems to be a case for application of the proposed legislation for differential rating. Members of the commission were Messrs. R. W. Tate (chairman), W. D. Annit and T. Sheehy.
