MANUTAHI NEWS.
Mrs. Weir and family, who have been residents of this district for the past 3| years, have shifted to Hawera. A.series of football matches is to be played by the junior boys of the Hawera Technical High School and a combined team selected from Mokoia and Manutahi. The fr st of these was played on the Manutahi ground and resulted in a win for the Hawera boys by 24 points to nil. After the match the boys were provided with a cup of tea by Mr. Robinson. While playing in a football match at Patea last Saturday Mr. J. Couch had the misfortune to fracture his leg and now is an inmate of the Patea hospital. Miss E. Brunton, who has been in hospital for the past two weeks, is improving and her condition is no longer dangerous. Miss Butterworth, who at one time was iu charge of the postal affairs of the district, is relieving at the office while Miss Brunton is in hospital. Mr. Henry Baldwin, who suddenly became ill a few days ago, is reported to be a little better. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Bell and family have returned after spending a fortnight ir the Bulls and Wellington districts. Mr. and Mrs... J. Chandler, Palmerston North, are the guestk of Mrs. Harvie. On Sunday afternoon a motor-car driven by Mr. Parker junr. crashed into a bank through the steering gear-get-ting out of order. No one was hurt, but’ the front under-carriage was considerably damaged.
