ROAD CYCLE RACING
JUNIOR DIVISION SERIES. The first of a series of cycle road races for junior division riders, under 16 years, was held on Wednesday under the direction of the Hawera Amateur Athletic Club. Eight riders took part in a nine-mile journev, proceeding from Hawera via the Glover and Waffii Roads to Normanby, and after circling the township, returning via Waihi and Main South Roads to the Hawera post office. All completed the course, onry two and a-half minutes separating t-ie first six home. Placings, showing handicaps and actual riding timeshare: — H. Fredericks (4min.L 27min. 45sec. 1 Al. Tulloch (3min.), 27min. 26sec 2 E. Loader (3|min.), 28min. 55sec. '.. 4 Also started —J. Gribble (4min.), J. England (3Amin.), K. Lovelock (2-Jmin.), H. Hutchins (2min.), B. Seaver (sei). The scratch rider, B. Seaver, who covered the journey in 26min. secured fastest time. Tulloch and Fredericks registered second and third fas est times respectively. Officials controlling the race were Messrs. A. Grant, L. I. Martcr, H. McCabe and J. Dredge. . . . Another race for the junior.division riders is to be held iu about three weeks’ time.
