GOLDEN MORN’S DOMINION THE BAT WINS ROSE BOWL EASILY KEEN SPORT ON THE PLUMPTON. Followers o' coursing were treated to keen sport on Wednesday and Thursday on the Brixton plumpton. Final. The Bat (Rin Awa —Sweet Pauline) 24 beat Gift (Paphian—Jewel Box) Gift had the best of the start and led for about a furlong, then The Bat shot up smartly and led past the judge, by three lengths. The Bat secured the fust turn and drove the hare to coi er. At the conclusion, Mr. W. Soffe, on behalf of the Club, introduced Mr. J. Hannan, Wangaehu, who had donated the Dominion Cup. The winner, he said, had been a good dog last year and had been the runner-up in the competition. He was pleased to see the Palmeiston North dog score for the reason that it had travelled furthest to enter for the competition. Mr. Hannan was sure that all wcie pleased to see the Palmerston North dog win. In his opinion, the Brixton Plumpton was a fine ground and the hares had run well, giving a line day’s sport. Mr. Jeffries said lie was pleased to race at Waitara and intended “having a go” at Patea before he returned. Ln asking Mrs. McPherson to present the Johnson rose bowl, Mr. Soffe said he was pleased to see a local dog and one of the newest members of the club score a win. , Following the presentation, Mr. Hopkins attributed his success to the efforts pi his trainer, Mr. Tim Troy.
