GIRLS’ FRIENDLY SOCIETY

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Girls’ Friendly Society was held in the lodge on Tuesday, July 9. Present: Mesdamcs Newman, Shoemark, Bennett, Misses Curtis, Godfrey, Hempton, the treasurer and the matron. Several apologies for absence were received. Accounts amounting to £53 16s 3d were passed for payment. The matron reported eight permanents and several casuals, and the quarterly balance showed the lodge to be in a very satisfactory position. A letter was read from Mr. Day, chief borough inspector, stressing the need for more efficient fire escapes, and it was decided to have the matter attended to at once.
