FATALLY GORED BY BULL

lIELENSVILLE FARMER KILLED. SHOTGUN TO DRIVE OFF BEAST. (Bj’ Wire —Special to News.) Auckland, Last Night. Attacked by a bull this afternoon, John Rimmer was severely gored and later died in the Auckland hospital. Air. Rimmer was in one of the paddocks on his farm at llelensville with a number of cattle when a bull suddenly rushed him.

It was some time before a neighbour, Mrs. Skelton, noticed Mr. Rimmer’s plight and she called her husband, who endeavoured without success to beat the animal off. Eventually he secured his shotgun. It took two full charges to make the infuriated beast leave his victim, who by this time was prostrate on the ground and severely mangled. The bull was driven off and Mr. Rimmer brought in. Mr. Rimmer was a member of the Waitemata County Council.
