BURNING OF MOTOR-OARS

EVIDENCE OF INCENDIARISM. OFFICE DOOR BROKEN OPEN. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, July 10. The fire which destroyed three cars in R. C. Dobson’s garage in Hereford Street last night was obviously the work of incendiarists. When the brigade arrived it was found that the petrol tank of one car had been cut open with a chisel and that the upholstery of three others had been flooded with petrol. Evidently the incendiarists had been disturbed. How they obtained an entrance's a mystery, for the doors of the building and the windows were undamaged. Everything was safe when the proprietor left at 6.30 p.m. Pedestrians saw smoke issuing at 8.30.

It was discovered that the door to the office had been broken, but nothing was stolen.
