Hugh Mayne, aged 58, was charged with assault and causing bodily harm to Walter Green, and was fined £lO, half to go to Green. Mayne and another lodger, who were both very drunk, were locked out by the landlady, who appealed to Green, a neighbour. He opened his door and Mayne rushed him and stabbed him in the leg with a pocket knife. The magistrate, Mr. E. Page, said Mayne’s drunkenness -was a voluntary act, therefore he was responsible for his actions while drunk.
