MEETING OF COMMITTEE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The Waitara School Committee held its monthly meeting on Monday evening, Mr. W. B. Glasgow presiding over a full attendance. The headmasters’ report was as follows: The roll numbers 393 and the average attendance 291. Influenza is 'playing havoc with the attendance. Miss. Lewis °has found it necessary to resign her position. During her short term. Miss Lewis had proved a most enthusiastic and efficient teacher. The report of the inspectors, Messrs. McKenzie, Griffin and Henry, who visited the school on June 14 shows the work of the school to be progressing satisfactorily. Miss Blackie visited the school during the month and thoroughly inspected the children in physical education. The grounds are now in excellent condition, and visitors to the school express their keenest appreciation of the work so successfully carried out. A vote of sympathy was passed with Miss Poletti over the death of her father. , . It was decided to forward a letter or appreciation to Miss Lewis for her conscientious work. In view of such an excellent report from the inspectors, the committee passed a resolution congratulating the headmaster and staff. The chairman reported that the. contractors would maintain the bituminous work done to the school grounds in the meantime, and about Christmas the final coat would be sprayed. Votes of thanks were passed to Messrs. L. N. Johnston, T. Rattenbury, G. H. Topless and R. Taylor for their assistance in connection with the grounds.
