FAMILY RE-UNION PROPOSED., Auckland, Last Night. (By Wire —Special to News.) Wide interest has been caused at tha discovery in the Bay of Plenty district of Caroline Perrett, who was lost from .tho Lepperton district, Taranaki, over 50 years ago. Kidnapped by Maoris, tho girl grew to womanhood, married a Maori chief and, until the extraordinary discovery of her identity was made, had only the faintest recollection of being associated with Europeans earlier in her life.
Mr. T. L. Dudley, Sumner Street, Ponsonby, states that there are relatives of Caroline Perrett in Auckland. Thera is a brother, Robert Perrett, while Mrs. Dudley is a niece. Mr. Dudley said tho story of the kidnapping of Caroline was well known in the family and she had been given up as dead until they read that she had been found and identified. From her mother, Mrs. Dudley had often heard about Caroline, who was described as a very pretty child with dark hair. Mr. Dudley said Auckland relatives were now endeavouring to make arrangements to go to the Bay of Plenty and have a family re-union.
