A two-hours’ dance programme was inaugurated by 2YB New Plymouth on Saturday night. The station authorities have received many requests from listeners for a Saturday night programme of dance music, and it has been arranged, to keep the station on the air until 10 p.m. The programme was in the nature of a trial and if listeners appreciate it sufficiently to assist the funds the Radio Society intends to continue it. If the dance programme is to be continued the station will be on the air continuously for about 8% hours every Saturday, as the sports broadcasts generally commence at 1.30 p.m. and are followed. by the children’s session. The programme director of 2 YB has arranged a series of excellent evenings for the future. The Boys’ High School orchestra is to provide the evening’s programme on July 13, while on July 17 all “Old Time” music will be broadcast. The New Plymouth Male Choir will provide the programme on July 24 and an “All Diggers Night” is being prepared for August.
