NEW RESIDENTS WELCOMED

SOCIAL EVENING AT WESTOWN. As a means of encouraging social relationships between residents of Westown and with a view to welcoming new settlers in the district a social evening was held in the Westown hall last night. The a'tendance repaid efforts cf the organisers and an enjoyable time was passed by all in musical items, cards, competitions and dancing. On behalf of the old residents Messrs. V. C. Davies and R. Gredig welcomed the new arrivals to Westown, Mr. W. L Shephard responding. Between the speeches and dances items were contributed by Mrs. Brewer, Misses D. Sole and Haddon, Messrs. C Blake, Haddon, F. Mills, E. Neilson and others. Those responsible for the evening were Messrs. Gredig (chairman), Davies (secretary) and a committee of willing helpers. Supper was served by a ladies’ committee under the control of Mesdames Taylor, Howlett and Brosell, while Mr. Gredig was M.C. The proceeds were devoted to the hall funds.
