EX-SERVICEMEN’S LOCARNO
SUPPRESSION OF INSULTS. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. United Service. London, Oct. 7. Sir lan Hamilton told British Legionaries how a fine piece of work was carried out by ex-enemy and Allied I ex-servicemen at Luxemburg, where they met under the presidency of an ex-enemy general, and passed a resolution against ex-service publications employing insulting terms towards exenemies. He said: “This was not a double shuffle by diplomats. Compare this practical handshake with Locarno, which is endeavouring to attain peace by agreement, to fight whenever war breaks out. The spirit of Locarno is founded on the recognition that war is evaporating. The Luxemburg spirit will pour out refreshment to mankind more and more abundantly. The propaganda factories cannot wash out Luxemburg. Six years ago tile Legion’s metropolitan council asked me to resign the presidency because I advocated such a meeting, but I still hang on.”
