MOTOR-CYCLIST KILLED
COLLISION WITH A TRUCK. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. George Jonathan Pine, aged 19, died in Christchurch hospital at noon to-day as the result of terrible injuries received in a collision between the motor cycle he was riding and a motor truck on the Riccarton Road this morning. Pine was riding on a piece of road bitumen paved and facing the rays of the morning sun. As he was passing Mr, W. J. Bowman’s yard a motor truck, driven by R. Giles, came out on to the road. The motor cycle hit the truck with a terrific erash, the motor cycle petrol tank burst, and the petrol fired enveloping Pine, his motor cycle, and the 'bonnet of the truck in flames. Pine was dragged from the burning truck with his clothing afire and terribly burned. He was rushed to hospital but he lived only a few hours. A chemical extinguisher was effective in saving the truck from complete destruction. Pine was a son of the well known horse trainer George J. Pine.
