WENDY’S LITTLE DRESSMAKERS

My dear Children,—Flower Fancy Dresses are always popular, and one of the prettiest and easiest to make is a Sunflower dress. Non-inflammable crepe paper is ideal for this, and you’ll want two rolls —one in bright yellow, the other in soft green. The little bodice must be cut out of tho green paper. Make it magyarehape as usual; cut it to come just about to your waistline, and three inches wider back and front than the width across your chest from side to side. Alw.;*« remember when working with crepe paper that there mustn't be any tightness anywhere; if the garment is at all tight, it will tear away at the seams. Diagram A shows how to cut out the little bodiee.

The petals for the skirt are cut as shown in Diagram B. Make them about four inches across at the widest part, and the length from your waist to your knees. Fold the paper about a dozen times, then you can cut out six petals at once —you will need, roughly, eighteen of them for the skirt. When they’re all cut out, you must sew them lightly, side by side, on to a wide strip of tape; the tape must be long enough to fit round your waist, and make to fasten at the back with big press studs. When you’ve stitched the petals all round, as shown in Diagram C, you must lay more petals on top, to overlap those on each side and sew them on to the tape—the dotted lines of Diagram C explain this part. The head-dress is made "in much the same way as the skirt; only the petals They’re sewn on to a band that fits should be eut about half the size, round your head —this can be wide tape, covered, when all is finished, with a folded strip of yellow paper. The edges of the petals for the head-dress should be wired, so that they will stick up prettily; or, if you prefer, you might make a little round green cap, to represent a bud, instead of wearing the sunflower hat.
