Bj Te'rgraph —Press Association. s Aw.-kland, Last Niglil. ’ Two firemen on the steamer Kaikorai, George Norman Godfrey, aged 25, and Sydney Oils, aged 38, pleaded guilty in ths Police Court to embezzling six ► • feses~of wine, valued at £2O, while the I Vessel” was on her way from Adelaide • io Auckland. Chief Detective Cummings said that {■be accused took the cases from the hold fo their quarters, and when they drank the wine, threw the bottles out of the portholes. Nina cases were missing altogether, but the other three could not be traced. Tihe magistrate (Mr. F. K. Hunt) ordered the accused to make restitution of the value of the wine, and sentenced earil roan to 14 days’ imprisonment.
