The* lats Mrs. Foy was born in midAtlantic on a voyage to New Zealand, she being a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wimsett, whose family were well-known, jn Nelson. She married the late Mr. T. H. He built the first Methodist Sunday school, of raupo, on tne banks ot the Maitai river, and was a class leader up to the time of bis removal to the North Island nearly half a century later. *IIe also erected and occupied the first brick house in Nelson, and built the first Methodist church at Motueka. His son and daughter-in-law followed in his footsteps, and 'Mrs. Foy was always a leader in those departments of .church activity which the women make more particularly their own. She was from shortly after flier arrival in Hawera i till her death a sacramental steward for the Hawera Methodist Church, and there are many in Hawera who can testify to the sincerity and truly Christian spirit which was characeristic of Mrs. Foy’s life and work.
