MAGISTRATE’S COURT. BANK MANAGER’S CLAIM (From Our Own Reporter.) Manaia. Dqc. The monthly sitting of U c Magi* trate’s C.’ourt was held at Manaia to--day, before Mr. A. M. Mowlem, S.M. James Taylor, an ex-bank manager, for whom Mr. B. Malone appeared, .pro* ceeded against D. Turner, for the recovery of £l6 10s. Mr. Malone stated’ that Turner’s wife called at Taylor*® -bank while Turner was in hospital and asked for a/loan, which Taylor granted' by way of a temporary overdraft. When. it came to the time to balance Turner had not repaid the loan, and to do him-, a good turn and to save reporting the unsecured overdraft. Taylor paid £l<l--10s into Turner’s account. Turner had made various promises t 6 repay Taylor, but had never done so. Turner, who conducted his own defence, swore that his wife had never been inside the bank, and that the amount of £l6 10s appearing in his l-ank book was paid in by a person: other than Taylor. The magistrate gave judgment for the plaintiff, with costs amounting to £4 4s. . UNDEFENDED CIVIL CASES. Judgment for plaintiff by default wasgiven in each of the following undefended civil cases: H. C. Jones v. Tommy Tutawa, £lO (costs £2 15sJ; H. B. Gibson v. Parata Luke, costs only 10s.. JUDGMENT SUMMONSES. At the suit of W. H. Reynolds Rangt Maha was ordered to pay £lO 19s 9d. tand costs forthwith, in default ten days’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended for fourteen days after theservice of the order. H. Ashford was ordered to pay £4 13s 5d to 'W. P. Head within seven days, in default fivfe days’ imprisonment.
