INSULTS IN INDIA.
ACTS OF EXTREMISTS. BRITISH OFFICIALS SNUBBED. Calcutta, Dec. 2. The extremist mo-veinent in India is assuming a personal aspect, the spread of which can only result in greater communal tension. Recently the Karachi Corporation refused to grant a civil welcome to the Governor of Bombay, Lieut-Colonel Wilson, on his visit, but after heated reconsideration of the matter it was decided to vote a small sum for a public reception. : 'Mnbay Corporation, after an acrimonious discussion, decided last evening that their chairman should repr->~-nt at public functions during the forthcoming visit of the Viceroy, Lord Reading. The chairman, who is an extremist, promptly resigned. Both incidents are regarded as an insult to the personages concerned, particularly as the Calcutta Corporation decently welcomed Gandhi with a great reception.
