THE PRICEI OF WHEAT By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The president of the conference which recently discussed wheat prices, has received the following communication from the Hon. W. Nosworthy (Minister for Agriculture) : “The Government does not propose to guarantee or fix prices for wheat, but will ask Parliament to increase duty on flour from £2 10s to £3 a tffli. The duty on wheat will remain as at present. The existing embargo on importations will be removed from Februarj’ 28, 1925.’’ LONDON WOOL SALES. SMALL OFFERING THIS MONTH. The Daily Telegraph states that the available offerings at the wool sales opening on March 18 are alarmingly small, being the lowest March offering for halt a century, which proves that practically, the whole of the current clips in' Australia. New Zealand and South Africa are being sold locally. LONDON MARKETS. WOOL, MEAT AND PRODUCE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A cable message received by the Bank of New South Wales from its London office, dated March 7, reports : Wool.—Market strong; prices are still hardening. Meat.—Wethers. 6%d to 9d; ewes to 7d. The market remains steady. Lambs, lOd to lid. The market is depressed owing to heavy arrivals. Beef prices are nominal, the market being short of supplies Pork, 6d to Bd. Rutter.—lBos cwt. Cheese.B6s per cwt. Both the butter and cheese markets are very quiet. EASTERN TELEGRAPH CO.
