A STERN NOTE.
WARNING TO GERMANY. MUST TOE THE LINE. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, March 7. The Time*’ Paris correspondent says the Ambassadors’ Note regarding military control has been handed to the German Ambassador at Paris. The Note state* that if there is opposition to the Allied demands, or if it is shown that there are serious deliberate breaches of the Versailles Treaty, other steps will undoubtedly be taken to compel Germany to toe the line. The Allies specially insist, first, that the police forces must be put on such a tooting as cannot be used for military purposes; second, munition factories must lie transformed and rendered incapable of producing war material; third, excess war material must be handed over; fourth, documents showing war material existing at the armistice and indicating production during the war must be furnished; fifth, all necessary laws must be promulgated to prevent importation and exportation of war material, to prohibit recruiting or organisation of an army in any sense contrary to the treaty. The Note also empha*ises that the inter-Allied Commission must be given proper facilities for examination of correspondence, and adds: "It may be too much to expect there will be no further difficulty, but at any rate the French believe the present decision will demonstrate that the Allies are united against any attempt on the part of Germany to escape her military obligations.”
STATEMENT BY STRESEMANN. Berlin, March 7. Before the Reichstag dissolved Herr Streseman, in an important speech, declared that Germany would never consent to the formation of a buffer Rhineland State, nor to an Allied committee of military control. Hq asserted that Germany’s disarmament had been completed.
