Mrs. Herbert Robertson arrived from Auckland yesterday, and motored back to Wanganui later in the day. * * * » Mre. R. Clinton Hughes is visiting Dunedin. Miss T. Meadows has returned to Wellington. Mrs. Church (Gore) has taken up her residence at Opunake. * * * * Mre. C. Denny-Brown was hostess at a fox-trot party on Tuesday night. Alias Jessie Alexander has returned to Dunedin. Mrs and Miss Foote have returned from Rotorua. Mrs. Dan Rrddiford (Marton) and Miss Jones (England) were visitors here this week. Miss Viva Johns left for Dunedin on Friday to continue her studies. * ♦ • • Alias Marjorie Fitzherbert has returned to Palmerston North. Miss Doris Ray has returned from Wellington. Miss Ada Cunningham is the guest of Mrs. Jamee Paul. Misses Meg and Helen Thompson left this week for Dunedin University.
Misaes Mollie and Jean Campbell have returned to Wellington. Mrs. W. Guild is on a visit to Auckland.
Mre. A. Muir, of Westown, leaves next week on a trip to Australia. She expects to be away a couple of months.
Mrs. J. C. Nicholson was hostess at a tennis and ping-pong afternoon yesterday i<x Mies F. Winfield.
Mrs. Leslie Kirkby, who has been the guest of Miss Hamerton, has returned to Inglewood.
Misses Tarry, of Inglewood, leave by the mail train on Wednesday morning for Auckland, where they join the Niagara, en route to England, where they expect to remain till the end of the year. Prior to leaving the Inglewood school, where she has been teaching some years, Misa H. Tarry was faiewelled by the scholars, teachers and members of the school committee. Eulogistic references to Miss Tarry’s splendid work on the staff, as well as wishes for a pleasant trip and a safe return, were made by Mr. J. Roberts (chairman of the committee), Mr. Henderson (headmaster), and Mr. J. Sutherland, (Mayor of Inglewood). During the afternoon Miss Tarry was presented by the prefects, on behalf of the teachers and pupils, with a handsome leather travelling case and a large box of chocolates.
