COMMERCE BY AIR.

MUCH RESEARCH NEEDED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright London, March 5. The Star’s political correspondent understands that the sub-committee investigating ainships believes that much research work is essential before a commercial airship can be built. The existing types have been constructed for purely naval and military purposes, and arc unsuitable for commercial purposes. The experiments sub-committee recommends that, with a view to economy, the Air Ministry should carry out research, including new airship' trial flights to Egypt and India. The inauguration of a company can be considered later.

Commander Burney’s scheme is not scrapped, but is subject to rearrangement. It is believed the Air Ministry will accept the recommendations.
