TURN OF THE TIDE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Received June 14, 8.55 p.m. Washington, June 13. The balance of trade has begun to turn against the United States. The imports of commodities during the first five months of 1923 totalled 1,765,757,000 dollars in value, and the exports 1,628,175,000. It was believed that, under the circumstances, the United States would begin to make heavy shipments of gold, but this is not the case, for 91,241 thousand dollars’ worth of gold was brought in during the period.
