WEDDING.
FLEMING-ROPER. A very pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Joseph’s Church, New Plymouth, on June 2, by the Rev. Father Lynch, the contracting parties being Michael, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. William Fleming, of Upper Kahui Road, Rahotu, to Gertrude Liliar;, voungest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George ’ Roper, of New Plymouth. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father,, looked charming in a frock of silver tissue and silver lace. She wore rhe orthodox veil and orange blossom, and carried a shower bouquet of white rose> and maidenhair fern. She was attended by her two sisters as bridesmaids, who wore pretty frocks of shell-pink georgette, (rimmed with silvei, and silver shoes and hats to match, and carried shower bouquets of pink roses and maidenhair fere. The little flower girl, Kathleen Fleming, r.-iece of the bridegroom, wore a sweet frock of pale blue crepe de chene, trimmed pink and white velvet hat, and carried a basket of pink flowers. Little Eric Lacey acted as page boy, who wore a suit of pale blue velvet.
Mr. Richard Fleming acted as best man and Mr. Eric Jury as groomsman. Afterwards a reception and dance were held at the Palladium, Motorua, where 130 guests sat down. The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a handsome gold bangle, to the bridesmaids gold brooches, and t< the little page boy a bound book. The bride’s gift to the bridegroom was a leather travelling-case. The bride travelled in a nigger-brown costume trimmed with fur, and a king-fisher-blue hat.
The couple left for the South by motor on their honeymoon.
The presents were both costly and numerous, including cheques, testifying to the popularity of the happy couple.
