They have never during that time held a sale. From its inception none but pedigree sires of New Zealand’s best blood have been used, the herd to-day being strongly charged with Monopoly blood, so favourably known for its producing qualities to pedigree Jersey breeders in this Dominion. The greater majority of the herd are descendants of “Sunflower’s Perseus” first champion butterfat bull of New Zealand, and this sire has left his impression to a marked degree. He has two and three year old pedigree heifers with records up to 618* lb. in 11 months. The butterfat average per cow for the past year is 311 lb. fat, and this on broken, high country within one mile of Mount Egmont Reserve. For the past 10 years the average factory test has always been on the top of the list.

The Vendors have decided to breed pedigree Jerseys only in future, having retained the whole of their pedigree heifers for this purpose, hence the decision to sell this choice herd.
