MINERS’ ORGANISATION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Greymouth, Last Night. Following is the voting of the West Coast Miners, excepting the Nkakawau Union, which is unlikely to alter the result, on the Reefton conference proposals recommending the formation of a district organisation for Westland and Southland and that the council of act;on be the controlling body in each district, with a national body of two representatives from each district: —For the proposals 539, against 339, majority for 200. The Millerton Union gave a majority of 159 for and Blackball and Roa a majority of 102 for, while the State miners gave a majority of 62 against. TOWN HALL FOR DUNEDIN. Dunedin, Last Night. A public meeting, fairly well attended, was held to-night at the invitation of the Mayor to discuss a project for the erection of a Town Hall at Dunedin. The Hon. G. M. Thomson moved: “That in view of the importance of the project about to be undertaken in Dunedin, and the absence of suitable accommodation in which to hold great Imperial, national or civic functions, it is essential that a new Town Hall worthy of the city be erected, and this meeting of citizens urges the ratepayers to vote in favour of the loan at a poll to be taken on June 27.” The motion was carried, only two voting against it. Those present formed themselves into a committee to further the project.

SPARROW SHOOTING. Wanganui, June 12. The sweepstake sparrow shooting match championship of New Zealand, held at the Wanganui Gun Club’s grounds yesterday, was won by L. R. M’Kelvie (Bulls), after a shoot off with G. P. Potts and Blythe, both of Wanganui, and V. Groome (Hastings), who divided with 19 kills each. There were 32 competitors from all parts of the Dominion. L. Hughes (Auckland) won the medal presented by the Colon ini Ammunition Coy. for best aggregate in pigeon, clay bird and sparrow championship matches, decided by Auckland, Hamilton and Wanganui respectively.
