TARANAKI’S TRADE.

LATEST PORT RETURNS. CARGO RECORD ESTABLISHED. A record in the total quantity of cargo handled was established at the port of New Plymouth during the last four-weekly period. The imports amounted to 11,168 tons and the exports to 4491 tons, the. combined figures being 15,659 tons. The total represents an increase of nearly 0000 tons on the corresponding period of 1922, when 10,926 tons were handled, divided into 8419 tons of imports and 2507 tons of exports.

A record was also established during the period in the tonnage of vessels entering the port. Twenty-two vessels came alongside, the total tonnage being 51,287 tons. Four of the ships were ocean liners. The total for the corresponding period of laat year was 23 vessels, with a total tonnage of 40,775 tons.
