NEW SOUTH WALES TOUR. .KEEN MATCH AT BLENHEIM, MARLBOROUGH DEFEATED, By Telegraph.—Press Association. Blenheim, Last Night. The. New South Wales team met the most solid opposition so far in the Dominion tour on a match to-day against Marlborough. Ideal football weather conditions, favorable to a good display, prevailed. Early in the game it was apparent that the activity of th© Marlborough forwards in the loose would be a 'factor checking the back play of the visitors, whose passing movements generally met with solid tackling. The first score was obtained by Marlborough shortly after the kick-off, but by the end of the spell the visitors made up the leeway by attractive back play, the score being, 11 all. In the second half the visitors added one converted try ancl» a penalty goal by Mingay. The latter thus brought his record of goal kicking for the tour to thirteen successes out of fifteen attempts. In this spell the back play of the visitors was sparkling. At times Marlborough made a determined effort to increase the score, but frequent infringements spoiled several promising attacks. Tries were obtained by the visitors by Wallace, Stanley (2), and McKay. Mingay converted on two occasions and placed a penalty goal. For Marlborough tries were scored by Woolley, Gleeson and Byrne, and one was converted by IL O'Brien. The game ended:— New South Wales 'l9 Marlborough II WEULIkGTON v. WANGANUI. EASY WIN FOR WELLINGTON. THIRTY-SEVEN TO ELEVEN. Wanganui, Last Night. A representative Rugby game between Wellington and Wanganui was played to-day in fine weather and before a large attendance. Wellington won by 37 points to 11. Play in the early stages was even, but the visitors soon got fhe upper hand through good passing by their backs. At half-time Wellington led by 18 points to 8. On resuming Wanganui added a try, but from thence on Wellington had matters largely their own way and finally won by 37 points to 11. Tries were scored for Wellington by Jackson (2), Algar, King, Tunnington, Standen and Hutchinson, while King converted six and potted a goal. McAuliffe, Potaka and Ross scored for Wanganui, Ross converting one.

INTER-COLLEGE TOURNAMENT. CHRIST'S COLLEGE BEAT WELLINGTON. Wanganui, Last Night. The collegiate Rugby tournament was continued to-day, (Tirist's College defeating Wellington College by 19 points to 11. At half-time the score was three points each. ’Wellington, on resuming, forged ahead and led 11 points to 3. In the concluding stages of the game Christ's got the upper hand and added sixteen points. Play was keen throughout and both teams played good Rugby. Ellis (2), Grant and Sheen scored for Christ’s, Talbot converting two and kicking a penalty. Miller, Carlson and Tait scored for Wellington, Malcolm converting one.

NEW ZEALAND UNION. THE SPRINGBOKS-MAORI MATCH. Wellington, Last Night. A meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union to-night decided allocate the match between the Springboks and the Maoris to Napier. In this connection i the Hawke’s Bay Union said the natives of the district would be prepared to give the Springboks a native welcome. It was agreed to accept the offer, and it was decided to grant sixty free seats to soldiers from the Waipukurau Hospital. Correspondence was received from New South Wales with reference to the French Rugby team's tour. The union is now awaiting official advice from i France. North Otago’s request for a match at Oamarn against the French team will be kept steadily in view. Mr. Slade (chairman) and Mr. Bailey (a member of the executive) leave for Auckland to-morrow. Mr. Bailey will act as the union’s representative with the Springboks for the remainder of the. tour. ROUGH PLAY DISPUTE. SPRINGBOKS IN THE SOUTH. Invercargill, Last Night. The Southland Rugby Union, at it? weekly meeting, discussed the statements of Mr. AV. Lawson with regard to rough play in the Springboks’ match, in • which he stated that the play of a Southland player had been investigated. Mr. A. .1. Gedde? (chairman) said that he was not aware that an inquiry hail been held into the play of any Southland player, and a motion was carried drawing the attention of the X'eiv Zealand Rugby Union to the report, of Mr. Jjfiwson’s remarks, and asking if the parent body approved of his statements, and that if any inquiry had been held that copies of the evidence be submitted to the Southland Rugby Union, together with the name of the player. Should the New Zealand Rugby Union know nothing of the inquiry, it was asked to deny the statements through the Press.

Tries were scored by Goodacro, Beals, Ennis. Langman, Gibson and Webster. None I were converted.

The North Taranaki Referees’ Association will hold their annual dinner and smoke concert this evening.
