OBITUARY.
MR. A. W. HOGG, EX-M.P. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Masterton, Last Night. The death occurred this afternoon from heart seizure of Mr. Alexander Wilson Hogg, for twenty-one years representative of Masterton in Parliament, and for a period Minister of Public Works in the Ward Ministry. Mr. Hogg was seventy-five years of age, and had been ailing for some time. He leaves a widow and four daughters,
[The late Mr. Hogg was bom in Glasgow, and lie went to Victoria (Australia) in ISSB. Here he followed mining, store-keeping, and journalism, and in 1877 ke left for New Zealand. He managed and edited the Dunedin Age for some years, and then conducted newspapers in Ashburton and Timaru up to 1881. From 1881 till 18(12 he was editor and part-proprietor of the Masterton Star. He was first elected M.P. for Masterton in 1000.1
