STORM AT ELTHAM.

SERIOUS DAMAGE DONE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Eltham, Nov. 15. A gale of exceptional fury in Eltliani blew over the town during the early hours of Sunday morning, doing considerable damage. Holism rocked and shook under the terrilic wind, and the guests at the Coronation and Eltham Hotels had an exciting night. After being kept awake for some time by the trembling of the buildings, they were startled by two resounding crashes. The window of Mr. Council's shop was blown in, and a very large amount of damage was done by the wind and rain and the Hying fragments of glass.

Under the terrific force of the wind the metal framework gave way and a. double plate-glass window in Mr. Shipton's shop was burst in. Fortunately the windows are caseil in with woodwork, and this confined the damage to the actual contents of the one shop window. Extensive damage was done to the roofs (if houses and many chimneys were blown down. -The roof of a shed was blown, into Railway Street, and in the surrounding district trees were uprooted and fences broken down. Perhaps the greatest damage done was to a house on the top of the hill. Roofing sheets were torn off and the verandah completely wrecked.
