CB. W. A. COIXIS TO STAND. VACANCY ON THE COUNCIL At the unanimous wish of the members of the New Plymouth Borough Council last night, Or. W. A, Collis agreed to allow himself to be nominated as a candidate at the Mayoral election, rendered necessary owing to the deiffV"* of Mr. .Tames Clarke, who had occupied the position for otic day lesg than 4 year. Had Mr. OlarEe lived until the following day an election would have been unnecessary, as the Borough Council would have been able, under the Act, to make the appointment, In order that the election for a borough councillor, may take place on the same day, Cr. W. A. Collis. who ia deputy-Mayor, last night resigned his seat as a councillor, and Ciu F. J. Hill was elected deputy-Mayor.
