Cambon's , successor as Ambassador for France, is t aged 54, and a grandson of Count de. St. Aulaire, who was Ambassador in London from 1841 to 1848, at the time of the i first Entente Cordiale. He is described as one of the most aristocratic figures in the French diplomatic service, a man with a modern mind, outspoken, and anxious to keep in touch' with all forms of public and social life.
