LONDON WOOL SALES. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. London, Nov. 10. At the wool sales 12,005 bales were catalogued, 3273 being New Zealand. There was a large attendance and fair inquiry, but the sale was a fiasco. Purchases were only made to meet compulsory requirements as the Government reserves were far too high for trade purposes. Only about one-fourth were sold mostly odd lots, and market values are tterefore not asccr (inable. TALLOW SALES. London, Nov. 10. At the tallow sales 2810 casks were offered and 771 sold. Good mixed was unchanged, but other sorts declined 2s to 3s. Trices were: Mutton 73s and 625, beef 80s and 625. DIFFICULTY OF FINANcTnG EXPORTS. London, Nov. 10. The Associated Chambers of the United Kingdom havo resolved to approach Mr. Chamberlain regarding tho difficulty of financing exports to Australia. RUMORED COMBINE DENIED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Nov. 11. It is stated that there has been considerable traffic In Union Company r»% per cent, preference shares. Owing to a revival of tte rumor that the company will be merged into the P. and O. Company these shares are selling at 21s Cd. The merger Is reported to be on account of double taxation, which would be greatly reduced. No official Information is available here, but the rumored amalgamation is being freely commented on. Later. Tho Evening Post yesterday telegraphed to Mr. Aiken, general manager of the Union Company, regarding the rumored merger between the P. and O. and the Union Companies.
