PUKEKURA PARK.
(To tte Editor.) Sir.—l do not know who Is responsible for the ridiculous idea of planting azaleas afound the lake, but whoever the culprit is, he or She has a lot to learn respecting what is necessary or suitable for a park of the nature nf Pukekura Park, where every endeavour lias been made in the past to make it what mlglit be railed a conservatory for our beautiful nature plants, ferns, etc. Perhaps It has never occurred to wl'oever is responsible for the planting that azaleas, beautiful as they are in a garden, are, after all, only in bloom for a fortnight or so, and then become almost ugly in their nakedness through the bareness of leaves. Tho Park Board must remember that the general public have contributed laTgely to its upkeep, and It certainly should not allow one of its members lo dominate over them and do what ho or she likes in its management. Now that Mr. Smith has been compelled to leave through some Idiotic blunder of the Board, for goodness .take let them appoint aomedne aa curator who is capable nf directing movements .19 to the proper conserving of the Park, and not. ruin what is known throughout the Dominion as one of the finest natural and ornamental gTounds in its territory.—l am, etc., SUBSCRIBER.
