SUPPLEMENTARY VOTES. TOTAL OF £2,148,002. OVER THIRTY MILLION FOR YEAR. By Telegraph.—Press Association. - Wellington, Last Night. In the House of Representatives thi> afternoon the Supplementary Estimates were brought down by Governor-Gener-al's message. The total amouut, was £2,1-48,002, making, with the main Estimates, £ 30,405,«.M7 for the year. in committee of supply, Mr. P. Eraser (Wellington Central) moved a reduction of £1 in the vote for the Commissioner of Pensions, as a protest against the Oovernmeiit's failure to provide adequately for the needs of blind people, old age and other pensions. The amendment was lost by 3o votes to 22. In connection with the vote of £IOO,OOO for defraying the expenses of the Prince of Wales' visit, Mr. H. E. Holland (Buller) said he understood hundreds of pounds of miblic money had been spent on the renovation of hotels at which the Prince stayed, and he asked if any refund had been made. The Hon. G. J. Anderson defended the vote. Ho said the Prince proved' the best Ambassador flie country ever had. The Prince's visit lasted.2B days, while the King's visit nineteen years earlier cost £89,000 for a stay of eighteen days.

Sir William Herries defended what was done in connection with'the Maori camp at Rotorua. The Minister of Internal Affairs, replying to Mr. Holland, said one-third of the money spent on renovations or .additions to hotels, etc., was contributed by the State. ■Mr. Fraser moved a reduction of £1 in the vote for the Secretary of Marine as a protest against the deletion of a regulation devised to conserve the safety of men engaged in handling netroloum carried as deck cargo on coastal ships. The Minister of Customs said that if the regulation had been ' rotaine'd it would have tyjen impossible for many of the snialle? coastal vessels to carry benzine which, wore, so much needed-in thV,, outlying districts. Cost of living bonus to retired civil servants, £IOO,OOO. Compassionate allowance to the widow of the late Hon. W. D. S. Mac Donald, £2OOO. Contribution to the railway superannuation fund, £50,000. Visit of the Prince of Wales, general expenses, £41,000; Maori camp at Rotorua, including transport, £45,000; grant to Governor-General towards cost of entertainment, £2000; subsidies to local bodies, £12,000. Grants to ex-members of the House, H. G. Ell, A. E. Glover, A. W. Hogg, J. T. M. Hornsby, and C. H. Mills, £l2O each. Expenses of proposed racing commission, £2OOO. Grants for Plunket nurses, additional, £IOOO. Expenses connected with the advancement of aviation, £30,000. Destruction of the ken, additional, £2600.

Erection of war memorials at. the Sonime, Messincs, Passchendaele, Le Quesnoy, Palestine, and Anzac, £OO,OOO. The total amounts voted on the Supplementary Estimates on the ordinary revenue account is ■£2,059,902, and on the Public Works Fund, £SB,IOO.
