EXPORTATIONS OF HIDES AND POTATOES.

At a meeting of the provincial executive of the Farmers' Union to-day, a resolution was passed strongly protesting against the embargo placed on the exportation. of hides and potatoes, and it was considered that these trade restrictions on the exportation of produce must discourage production in the future.

HAWKE'S BAY FARMERS' DEMANDS. Hastings, Last, Night. The Hawkcs Bay branch of the Farmers' Union forwarded the following resolution to the Acting' Premier, and the Hons. D. H. Guthrie and W. D. SMac Donald: That this executive strongly protests to the Minister in charge against allowing the Australian freight, committee to absolutely control the steamers allocated to New Zealand tor frozen produce, and asks that the Imperial Government bo approached with a view to making different arrangements immediately- (2) This executive points out that half the meat in store at the present time is last season's, and, owing to this, the Imperial Government's produce is deteriorating. Further, that the space in the .TTawkes Bav works is full, in spite of only half the usual quantity of Rto«(; having been dealt with.' (3) That owing to the shortness of shipping allocated to Napier, large numbers of stock are being railed to works outside Hawkes Bay.
