THE DRIVERS' DISPUTE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. A Drivers' Conference was held on Saturday between representatives of the F.mployers' Federation who were not master carters, and Mr Davis, secretary of the Drivers' Union. The former put forward a proposition of £3 6s for onu horse drivers for- a 52 hour week, and £2 15a for two horse men for a SO hour week. Mr Davis said there was no possible nharce of a local settlement on any terms, stating that the matter mugt be settled nat.innallv. The employer#' rescntativeß then undertook to eonmnmi- £ eaie with the employers in Other parts™ of the Dominion with a view to a further conference within a day or two In the meantime they asked Mr DJvls to request the men not to put into operation the decision to arrive at the stables at S a.m. and leave at 5 p.m. Mr Davi* agreed to do this, ar.d the Unton, at % meeting this morning, agreed to suspend notion for seven days in the hope of a > settlement meantime
