The Daily Express' Berlin ent reports that the Lokal Anzeiger, commenting on the Kaiser's birthday, says: "No sentence, even if pronounced by the whole world in league, can deprives Ilia thirty years' rule of its glory. There are millions of German hearts resenting the awful indictment against him by the Entente, which is only meant to conceal the accusers' own guilt." The Deutsch l'ages Zeitung compares the old system with the present conditions of insecurity, strikes, plundering, .and terror.
The Tageblatt demands more backbone against the Entente, especially tho French demand", and asks: "What can' the Entente do if the German peace delegates, while fulfilling President Wilson's fourteen points, decline to accept a dictated peace Aus, N.Z. Cable Assoc.

DEPENDENCE ON WILSON'S PROGRAMME. Received January 30, 5 3 p.m. London, Jan 2S. Ths German Government by wireless asserts that- protests any violations of President Wilson's programme are pouring in from all political, municipal and local bodies. The Government adheres strictly to President Wilson's programme, and will demand the realisation of it at the Peace Conference and the defence of the principle of nationality. Advantage must not be taken of Germany's alleged helplessness. The message adds that the Lettish Government .arrested the German officials at Ri2U. A Mitau message urges the Russian Government now to secure their release- The German Government meanwhile arrests certain Sussian subiects.
