A British officer, who has just return' ed from the front wounded, relates that a German soldier employed a very ingenious method of surrendering u. few days ago, on a part of the line some miles north of the Somme. The men in the British trenches noticed a terrior dog leave the German trenches and trot about in "No Man's Land." Directly afterwards a soldier came from tit"." German trench and made towards the dog, which was now much nearer to the British line than 'to the German. No sooner had the German secured the dog than he threw up his arms and made a dash for the British lines.
