Dr. A, W. Averill, Bishop of Auckland, arrived in Xew Plymouth by tho Rarawa yesterday. He is the guest of Mrs. Evans. Dr. Averill will take charge of St. Mary's parish for three weeks, during the absence of the Rev. A. 11. Colvile. During his stay in the district he will visit Stratford, Inglewood, Waitara, Lepperton, TJrenui, Uruti, Okato, Rahotu, and Fitzroy. On November 20 Dr.' Averill will conduct a confirmation service" at St. Mary's Church.

The Rev. Dr. Watkin has (says the Melbourne Argus) arrived in Australia from New Zealand in poor health, after having overtaxed himself by too much public speaking. Dr. Watkin, who is now over eighty years of age, is one of the best known of the ministers of the Methodist Church who were in the forefront of effort twenty years ago, and have still kept in touch with the Church's affairs, although in comparative retirement. The Rev. A. M'Callum, in announcing Dr. Watkin's illness, stated that his medical adviser said it was probable the invalided clergyman would never be able to take part in affairs with his former energy.
