BOROUGH COUNCIL.
WORKS COMMITTEE A meeting of the Works Committee of the Borough Council was held last night, when there were present: The Mayoj (Mr. C. H. Burgess) in the chair, Crs. T* M. Monteath, ,T. T. Mannix. S. Smith, F. J. Hill, W. F. Short, W. A. Colli*. A. H. Johnstone, F. K. Wilson, .T, W. Hayden, J. S. S. Medley, and A. IS. Watkiiia.
BOROUGH ENGINEER'S REPORT, The Borough engineer (Mr. E. 0. Clayton), reported on works during the past month ns follows:—
Tram Route.—A great deal of work had been completed during the month and this enabled the tars to run to this Breakwater nt Enster. Devon Street west had been finished, and Rs-far as ho was aware the cars could now run on thin section also. , . Cutfield Rond.~Thc contractor for filling, etc., portion of Cutfield Road had made excellent progress. Baths.—The attendance at the batlu during April was as follows: Men 20S, 'adies 197, total 400, and hot writer hut In 67. The receipts were: Swimming pon( £1 10s 7d, hot baths JBs; total for month £4 17s 7d, total for eorrespondisij month last year, £5 14*. Refuse Removal.—The new svstuWt of household refuse removal commenced that morning, and after ft sjiort tiuui should lie working smoothly mid lwll in a marked improvement in the saiuti'i'/ state of the bovougli.
