MORE INVALIDS RETURN. SOLDIER'S WONDERFUL RECOVERY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Yesterday. The Turakina arrived in Auckland at 6.30 this morning with 84 invalided soldiers in charge of Captain Conway, of Heefton. There are no cot cases. A number are limping and using sticks, but all are in a fair way to recovery. One of the most remarkable cases on the Turakina is that of Lance-Corporal Kennedy, of Dunedin. A bullet shattered his temple, traversed the length of his head, and the remains lodged in tha bast of the skull. He was unconscious for two weeks and. had the personal attention of Sir Victor Horslcy, the eminent surgeon, who describes it as one of the most remarkable cases that had comb tinder his notice. Kennedy suffers from occasional headaches, otherwise there are apparently.no ill effects. Captain Conway brings a beautiful silk Union Jack and a silver shield presented to the New Zealanders wko participated in the Gallipoli fighting. The shield bears the inscription, "To the New Zealand heroes of Gallipoli, from the women. )f England." It was presented at Paddington station by Lady Smith-Dorrien. The returned invalids were publicly welcomed this morning by tie Mayor and the Hon. Mr. Myers, BELF-HELP^RGED. Dunedin, Yesterday. The 'Patriotic Association to-day passed a resolution that, in view of the statements made by a responsible Ministor of the Crown in England as to ths urgent necessity for economy, this Association urges jthc Government to adopt a self-reliant policy, and to find within New Zealand the money required for war expenses, and so relieve the Imperial Government of the necessity for lwidine us the necessary funds,
